Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba exhorts and encourages the devotees quite often to progress in their spiritual journey step by step, instead of confining themselves to Bhajans and Sankirthan and feeling contented with that. He even admonishes the devotees as to howlong they wish to remain in the elementary classes. These primary classes in Sadhana are, of course, helpful for attaining purity of mind. But, the mind has to be thereafter moulded as an effective and helpful tool for attainingAtma Sakshatkara (self-realisation). It is said "Mana eva Manushyanaam Kaaranam Badha Mokshayoh" (Mind alone is the cause for either bondage or liberation). The mind is constantly craving for various sensual pleasure, leading to bondage. It is fickle in nature, treacherous and hard to control.
That is why Bhagawan delivered a series of discourses daily during the year 1976 on the topic of mind and its nature. These discourses are enlightening and inspiring to those who are progressing on the path of spirituality.
